Ethics and AI Clinical Documentation Tools
Description:
Our presentation will examine leading AI-assisted clinical documentation and treatment planning tools, comparing their efficacy and compliance with ethical standards in marriage and family therapy. We evaluate key criteria including data storage policies, data retention periods, opt-out options, transcription quality, and pricing models for individuals and organizations. Special attention is given to HIPAA compliance, client consent, and confidentiality concerns. The research explores potential impacts on the therapeutic process, including how recording sessions may influence client-therapist dynamics and client perceptions of therapist competence. We also discuss the ethical implications of using AI-generated content for clinical documentation and treatment planning. Additionally, we consider the potential implications of these tools for training and supervision, as we weigh the benefits against professional and ethical considerations. Our presentation will provide therapists with a detailed understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations of AI-assisted clinical documentation tools to inform their professional practice.
